Downloads, Git and Facebook

Hello everyone, So it's been 10 days now since Elements was released, and I'm totally happy! No one's reported any big bugs, and there's been over 900 downloads of the plugin! Wow, thanks for your support guys! Let's make sure to get that over 1000 though.

I've started playing around with a new plugin that will determine transparency based on pixel colour. I'm just in the initial stages, but I like the idea, and I really hope it works. Stay tuned here and on the Compiz forums for updates.

A few people have asked me why I don't put Elements on git. Well, it's simple. I don't like git for my purposes, I don't see the point. It just over-complicates things, and in the end that's where plugins go to die, unsupported. With half a brain and the ability to make new folders in Nautilus, any old fool can implement his own version control system when he's the only one editing code. Now, do not take this to mean that I refuse to use git for anything, or that I've got something against it. Elements 2.0 will be git developed and released, because there' more than one person working on it. I've made my decision, please do not keep asking me why it's not on git.

I set up a facebook fan page for myself. Call it narcissistic, but I was actually asked to do it by a guy. So there. Join it if you want to be able to get a hold of me easily, and if you want to see some more plugins come out of me. I've alluded to a few of them on the facebook fan page, but no details until I'm sure they're even going to be publishable. A friend of mine just told me that if I get 500 fans (3 so far), she'll buy me a beer. Help me out here!

Have a great week,
